For 2017, Ram continues to offer the most capable three-quarter and one-ton pickups in the heavy-duty pickup segment with 31,210 pounds of towing, 7,390 pounds of payload and 900 lb.-ft. of torque.
Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks offer innovative features and excellent ride quality. The Ram 2500 offers two segment-exclusive rear suspensions: a five-link coil system or air suspension system. The Ram 3500 continues to utilize the rear Hotchkiss leaf spring system and offers a supplemental air suspension system.
Engine options include: 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine delivering 383 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and features VVT for greater efficiency and performance; and the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 that delivers 410 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm, featuring variable-valve timing (VVT) with Fuel Saver Technology cylinder deactivation. Ram Heavy-Duty configurations are in 2WD or 4WD in regular cab long bed, crew cab short bed, crew cab long bed, and mega cab short bed. The Ram Heavy Duty line is available in eight levels: Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn, Lone Star, Power Wagon, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Limited.
The Ram 2500 4x4 Off-road Package rounds out the heavy-duty enthusiast lineup. Large front tow hooks add an untold amount of versatility and allow the Ram 2500 to become a solid anchor point or rescue rig. Larger fender flares in Black or body-color help prevent whatever slings off the tires from covering the side of the truck with debris. To handle the rough roads, Bilstein monotube shock absorbers soak up the bumps at all four corners and distribute excessive heat that can be generated when driving rough sections for extended periods of time.
