Changes for 2008 reflect customer preferences enhancing Avalanche's style, including a 40/20/40-split bench seat modification in LS models providing storage space in the center section; woodgrain trim added to the forward center console on LTZ and brighter instrument pointers in the gauge cluster.
Avalanche is designed with safety in mind delivering a 360-degree safety system of occupant protection and crash-avoidance technology featuring standard StabiliTrak with new rollover mitigation technology. The inclusion of head curtain side-impact airbags on all models enhances the 2008 Avalanche's standard safety features list.
Models include LS, LT and LTZ, with 2WD and 4WD. The standard powertrain includes a 5.3L V-8 with Active Fuel Management technology, switching from eight to four cylinders, saving fuel. A 6.0L V-8 engine is also available.
The Z71 Off Road appearance package is optional featuring off road suspension with high-pressure, gas-charged monotube shocks, 18-inch on/off road tires, automatic-locking differential, front recovery hooks, a durable skid plate and high-capacity air cleaner.
