The 2010 Chevrolet Impala continues as one of the segment's best values. That value is supported by features such as 3.5L V-6 that offers 29 mpg in highway fuel efficiency, as well as a safety package that includes thorax side-impact airbags. Available features include Bluetooth phone connectivity through the OnStar system. New for 2010 is a trio of contemporary exterior colors and revisions to the 1LT trim package.
A 3.5L V-6 is standard in the Impala LS and LT, delivering 211 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard in LTZ and available in LT models is the 3.9L V-6 that features E85 FlexFuel capability. This engine offers more power and usable torque within its operating range, with 90 percent of peak torque available from 1,800 to 5,800 rpm. It is rated at 224 horsepower and 235 lb.-ft. of torque.
The 5.3L all-aluminum small-block V-8 powers the performance-oriented Impala SS. It features Active Fuel Management, which can provide up to 12 percent better fuel economy. The SS's 5.3L engine produces 303 horsepower and 323 lb.-ft. of torque. All of Impala's engines are matched with the four-speed automatic transmission.
Quiet, smoothness and refinement are the ride and handling traits conveyed through the Impala's chassis and suspension systems. A robust front-end structure provides a firmer foundation to help reduce noise, vibration and harshness while also enhancing steering and handling performance.
