Ford's latest entry into the full-size Crossover Utility Vehicle marketplace is the new 2008 Taurus X, available in three trim levels: SEL, Eddie Bauer and Limited, offering three seating rows, and power from a 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to an electronically controlled six-speed transmission.
The Taurus provides a lengthy list of standard safety equipment, including side curtain airbags and AdvanceTrac electronic stability control. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available.
The seven-passenger crossover garnered five-star ratings in each of four government crash test categories, and a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
The 2008 Taurus X provides plenty of interior space and important convenience features. Several new features such as: one-touch, flip-and-fold second-row seating; and an optionally available power rear liftgate. With second and third row seats folded flat, the Taurus X offers 85.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row. The front passenger seat folds flat allowing portage of items up to 9 feet in length.
Other available extras include: voice activated, DVD-based navigation system, SIRIUS satellite radio, rear-seat DVD entertainment system and Ford Sync hands-free, in-car communications and entertainment system.
