Pontiac's sporty G6 has a new model -- the GXP -- as well as new standard features for 2008, including seat-mounted, side-impact thorax airbags for additional driver and passenger safety, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with traction control and auxiliary audio jacks for iPod/MP3 players and OnStar. XM Satellite Radio is now standard on all GT models.
The new model is the spicy Pontiac G6 GXP performance coupe and sedan. Bringing a new dimension to the G6's lineup, it joins other Pontiac GXP stable mates such as Solstice, Torrent and Grand Prix.
Pontiac G6 GXP models have a 252-horsepower, 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 engine that generates 251 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission complements the performance-tuned suspension with standard four-channel anti-lock brakes. Wheels are 18-inch five-spoke, flangeless, painted aluminum alloy.
Other exterior touches include body side rocker moldings and a redesigned front and rear fascia with dual exhaust openings. Fog lamps and braided polished stainless steel upper and outboard lower grille inserts with chrome surrounds on the upper grille sections enhance the look and make the 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP instantly recognizable.
A "Street Edition" package will also be available for those seeking an even more striking appearance, with dual hood scoops and a model-specific spoiler to the GXP.
